UrgentCrowd Privacy Policy

Summary: UrgentCrowd is an informational triage tool. We collect only the data you provide, process it with AI to generate triage recommendations, and never sell or share your data with advertisers or data brokers. You can delete your data at any time.

1. Who We Are

UrgentCrowd ("we," "us," "our") is an AI-powered urgent care triage application designed to help users make informed decisions about seeking medical care. UrgentCrowd is not a medical device, does not diagnose medical conditions, and does not provide medical advice. It is an informational wellness tool only.

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Account Information

Apple Sign-In pseudonymous identifier: A unique, app-scoped ID provided by Apple. We do not receive your real Apple ID email unless you choose to share it. Apple's "Hide My Email" relay is fully supported.

2.2 Triage and Symptom Data

Symptom descriptions: Free-text descriptions of your symptoms that you voluntarily enter.
Self-selected diagnosis zone: The diagnostic zone you choose (Respiratory, Gastrointestinal, Musculoskeletal, Dermatological, or General).
Severity self-ratings: Your self-assessment of symptom severity.
Triage results: The AI-generated triage recommendation and reasoning.

2.3 Community Outcome Feedback

Voluntary outcome reports: If you choose to share what happened after your visit (e.g., "went to urgent care, was treated and released"), this feedback is collected to improve community statistics. Outcome data is aggregated and anonymized before being displayed to other users.

2.4 Data We Do NOT Collect

Real name, home address, or phone number (unless you voluntarily provide them).
Health insurance information.
Payment or billing data (the app is free).
Precise geolocation.
Contacts, photos, or other device data.

3. How AI Processes Your Data

When you submit symptoms for triage, your symptom text and selected diagnostic zone are sent to Anthropic's Claude API for clinical reasoning analysis. Anthropic processes this data to generate your triage recommendation.

Anthropic's data policy: Per Anthropic's API Terms of Service, data submitted through the API is not used to train Anthropic's models and is not retained beyond the immediate request processing window. For details, see Anthropic's usage policy.

We do not send your Apple ID, account identifier, or any other personal identifiers to Anthropic. Only the symptom text and diagnostic context required for triage are transmitted.

4. Data Storage and Security

Infrastructure: All data is stored on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), using Cloud SQL with encryption at rest enabled by default.
Transit encryption: All data in transit is encrypted via TLS 1.2 or higher.
Access controls: Database access is restricted to the application service account with least-privilege permissions.
Backups: Automated database backups are encrypted and retained per GCP's standard backup policies.

5. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. Specifically:

Account data: Kept until you delete your account.
Triage history: Kept until you delete your account or individually delete triage records.
Community outcome data: Once submitted and aggregated into anonymized community statistics, individual outcome records cannot be disaggregated. However, your identifiable link to the data is removed upon account deletion.

6. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

Access: View all data associated with your account within the app.
Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data using the "Delete My Data" option in the app's Settings screen. Deletion is permanent and irreversible.
Portability: Request an export of your data by contacting us at the email address below.
Correction: Contact us to correct any inaccurate data.

7. Tracking and Advertising

No cross-app tracking. UrgentCrowd does not use any cross-app tracking technologies, advertising identifiers, or third-party analytics SDKs that track you across other apps or websites.

We do not participate in any ad networks.
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with data brokers.
We do not use fingerprinting or any covert tracking mechanisms.

8. HIPAA Disclaimer

UrgentCrowd is not a covered entity or business associate under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). The app does not collect Protected Health Information (PHI) as defined by HIPAA. All symptom descriptions, triage results, and outcome data are treated as general wellness information provided voluntarily by the user for informational purposes.

9. Children's Privacy

UrgentCrowd is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has used the app, please contact us at the address below.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of UrgentCrowd after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
